LIHI, Your Unusual Resto in the Metro

Lihi Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Cravings? Whether I'm pregnant or not me and my husband craves any time of the day. My husband loves Bulalo so much and when he starts to crave, next thing we know is we're already in Tagaytay. We always crave for Filipino food and it's nice to know that there's a new place to eat in town and it's just around the neighborhood. The Lihi, Cravings for Wifey and the Family.

"Lihi" is a Family Style Restaurant where you can have your heart's cravings, especially for Filipino food. Lihi is not only intended for pregnant Mom's who were literally "naglilihi". The concept of this resto is to satisfy the cravings of every guest for Filipino food whether it be included in their menu or NOT. Yes, you got it right, aside from the sumptuous food choices listed in their menu, you can order here whatever your heart desires as long as they have an available ingredient on the time of your order. No matter how unusual your cravings may be. They were like your husband who will do everything to give in to your yearning. Or a genie to make your wishes come true (but only for your food cravings😁).

The Food. Lihi mostly served Filipino foods, from Beef, Pork, Veggies, Fish and Chicken dishes. There's a lot of options to choose from their list, but as previously mentioned if you crave for a certain food that is not part of their menu you can just inform them ahead of time to know if they have the ingredients for it, so they'll be able to prepare it for you. Regardless of the type of cuisine, Filipino, Chinese or Japanese, don't hesitate to ask and inquire to give in to your cravings.

Below are some of the ala carte dishes that we've tried on our visit.

Chef's Style Embutido
219 Php. Lihi's very own special Embutido recipe. Not your usual type of Embutido, this is one of my favorites at Lihi so far. I am not a fan Embutido, I haven't even introduced this dish to my kids, but this one is an exception. Never knew I could eat this again. The Japanese mayo plus the sweet and sour sauce complements the texture of the Embutido, having a soft, easy to chew meat, really not the typical type of Embutido❤❤❤.

Baked Tahong
195 Php. Fresh mussels baked in Lihi's special cheesy dressing. Let me share with you a secret, this was my first time eating mussels, as in really!!!🤫. My husband even forced me to taste that one time, in a super expensive resto but really didn't got me eating it. I don't know what Lihi did, but at the time this was served it really had me wanting to try it, and yes I did it! This was even the first dish I've tried that day. Ok, Bucket list ✅. Oh btw, let me share with you the taste, the cheese was really Superb!💯! Not your typical cheese, as in super sarap! (tagalog para Intense!)

Salted Egg Shrimp
395 PhpFresh shrimp tossed in house special salted egg sauce. I'm a fan of salted egg dishes and everything with salted egg I really love, add it to shrimp then this is something special. Also, note that their shrimps aren't small shrimps,  I think those were medium or large shrimps already if we talked about shrimp.

Pinakbet
245 PhpVegetables sauteed in fresh shrimp and alamang mix topped with crispy pork. This is also one of my favorite, eating this felt like I'm in Ilocos and enjoying the freshest vegetables and that crispy pork felt like eating a Bagnet straight from the North. Missing Ilocos already, but no need to travel far anymore, cause Lihi is just a few minute drive from us, very nice.

Lihi's Kare -Kare

550 Php. If Embutido is my favorite for their appetizers (though it's not only an appetizer type of meal cause it's still best to be paired with rice), this Kare Kare is 💯👌💖, true to their claims " masarap kahit walang alamang", I'm a fan of Lihi's Kare Kare, the sabaw itself "ulam na!". Do I need to add more with that? Ok, to add more the soup of this Kare Kare is what makes it a superb dish, you'll definitely taste the fresh and maximum amount of nuts, that explodes in your mouth. This Kare Kare will surely make your day.

Lihi's Bulalo
395 Php100% Pure Beef shanks and bone marrow cooked with fresh Baguio beans, napa cabbage, and sweet corn. We've been to Tagaytay and even went to Batangas in searched for the best Bulalo that would satisfy our cravings. Tagaytay captured our hearts that we will definitely travel a couple of hours just to get that authentic Bulalo taste. I'm glad that Lihi came here in Quezon City because this will be a definite go-to place for our family when we crave for Bulalo, there's no more beating the traffic just to have a sip of that nice Bulalo soup. Why am I saying this? It is because at the first sip of the soup of this huge Bulalo servings it already took my heart away. They brought me to that Tagaytay feel, no stir, no joke, just authentic expression of how it felt for the first time trying Lihi's Bulalo. The meat was cooked to perfection and the vegetable was fresh and crunchy just how I like my veggies to be. With only 395, you can never go wrong with this Bulalo.

Turon A la Mode
90 Php Crispy turon topped with a scoop of ice cream drizzled with chocolate syrup. For their dessert, this is my favorite. The turon is nicely crisp and you can still bite and chew it easily. The banana inside is easy to chew as well, fresh and soft banana inside this deliciously sinful (for diet) dessert.
Brownies Overload
149 Php Brownie topped with a scoop of ice cream, covered with cream, drizzled with chocolate syrup and topped with a cherry. Second, to turon, this is also part of my favorites list. Clueless where is the brownie? Oh, it's all covered with that delicious cream, very nice and affordable for 149.
Banana Split
199 Php 3 scoops of ice cream in Ube, Chocolate, and Strawberry flavor, banana split into 2 plus cream and a wafer stick. Freshest banana, that is one thing Lihi can be proud of, their freshest ingredients served for the happiness of their customers.
Chocolate Milkshake

120 Php Chocolatiest milkshake.

Aside from their a la carte menu they also have group meals good for the whole family and the gang.

THE SOUNDS OF HEARTS BREAKING

With first love comes the first heartbreak, that first brush with pain when nothing seems to bring comfort or relief. Nothing, except for music.

This is familiar territory for the rock band ST. WOLF. Known for their solid beats and gut-wrenching lyrics are KL de la Cruz (vocals), Vince Lucero (guitars), Karlo Magsalang (bass) and Bob Sadural (drums). These guys aren’t afraid to explore the deepest emotions and the ugliest truths that can come out in relationships; their most popular songs, ‘Jealousy,’ ‘Taguan,’ and ‘Papara’ all attest to that.

KL says, “With songs, you have to let them feel your sincerity, that is the most important thing.  As long as you write, perform and sing with sincerity, the audience will know.”

When St. Wolf first sat down to brainstorm with Morissette for their Coke Studio Season 3 collab, the band was happy to find out that she considers rock music part of her DNA.

Morissette is known for her power ballads, but she calls rock, “her comfort zone.”  She reveals, “I actually grew up listening to old-school rock bands when I was a child in Cebu.  My dad was in a band and I would go around with him, so I do love rock!”

This common foundation made their Coke Studio Season 3 collaboration a match made in musical heaven.

Vince puts it this way, “I think our collab works because it’s really all about the feels—we bring the feels with our lyrics and she brings the feels with her performance.”

Focusing on writing a break-up song is a particular process, Bob says, “What we have lived through, we just put it into the song.  That’s when the song becomes powerful.”

KL, who got his start in Christian music, adds, “I believe that of faith, hope and love, the greatest of these is love.  So to explore the loss of love, can really make for a great song.”

Morissette was quick to add, “What’s good with a break-up song is that it can help explain what the feeling is. It can help you understand exactly what you’re going through! Young people will really be able to relate to it…and that’s all we want, a song that is relatable."

Watch Morissette and St. Wolf as they collaborate on Coke Studio Season 3.
Catch them on September 28, Saturday at 10a.m. on ABS-CBN or subscribe to Coke Studio’s Youtube page at www.youtube.com/CokeStudioPH for the latest episodes.

The rise of e-cigarettes and RELX Technology

The use of electronic cigarettes has surged worldwide over the past decade, with the global market valued at US$10.3B in 2018 and expected to grow at a CAGR of 24.9% from 2019 to 2025 per multiple reports. Though there are several major players in the vaping industry, most of them owned by tobacco companies, one recent independent entrant, RELX Technology – pronounced “relax” – has stood out from the competition.

Origins: Female entrepreneurship and concern for family and friends
Founded by ex-Uber China Head Kate Wang in January 2018, RELX Technology’s products have experienced tremendous success with adult smokers globally, catapulting it to the position of the leading closed-system e-cigarette brand in Asia. Motivated by her father’s lifelong struggle to quit cigarettes and the lack of suitable new generation products in the market, Wang took it upon herself to start a company that prioritizes innovation, safety, and product quality.

An independent e-cigarette brand that works ethically
With a mission to empower adult smokers through advanced technology and user-friendly design without sacrificing ethics, RELX Technology’s core business encompasses independent R&D, product design and development, and sales. From its inception, RELX Technology has conceptualized and put into effect its ‘Guardian Program’ - a company-wide initiative that stretches from product development to sales, ensuring that the company puts the necessary effort in preventing and discouraging the use of e-cigarettes by minors, whether this be through concerted efforts with retailers to step up on-site identification of purchasers, or launching facial-recognition vending machines in China that dispense products only to adults against their national ID cards.

Cutting-edge R&D that focuses on problems faced by adult smokers wishing to quit cigarettes
In an industry focused on top-line growth, RELX Technology has invested millions of dollars into building its own facilities and operates the first CNAS-certified lab owned by an independent vape brand. RELX Technology also holds more than 20 international patents on its groundbreaking innovations in e-cigarette technology, all geared towards improving safety, quality, and user experience that helps smokers quit cigarettes more efficiently. Its products such as the RELX Alpha and RELX include a haptic feedback feature called SmartPace, which vibrates to let users know when they should stop vaping and put down their devices. RELX Tech’s latest product, a smart e-cigarette called RELX i, connects to the companion smartphone app that features in-depth usage statistics and a child lock that prevents unauthorized use.

RELX Technology brings its advanced e-cigarette products to Philippines
RELX is now available in the Philippines through it’s physical stores and online partners such as Lazada and Shopee. The RELX starter kits are available in the variants of Classic Black, Rose Gold. Space Gray, Navy Blue, Red, and Turquoise and just recently they have released the Celestial series, which features the stunning variants of Sunset Glow, Solar Eclipse, and Mystic Aurora. RELX also has a wide range of pod flavors such as Mango, Lemon Tea, Blueberry, Grapefruit, Ludou Ice,
Fresh Cucumber, Mint, Classic Tobacco, Banana, Greentea, Peach Oolong, and Icy Slush. All RELX starter kits comes with 1 vape electronic cigarette, charger, and 1 pod priced at Php 1,599.00

SILENT SANCTUARY X BRISOM: JUST CHILLING

Silent Sanctuary and Brisom don’t believe in boxes and labels.  Silent Sanctuary has a rock sound but they have a violinist to add the texture of a classical string section to their band.  Brisom combines the influence of world music with synth sounds and an indie pop music flavor.  This common point of view makes it easy for them to just hang out, to just be themselves.  When they get together, the laughter comes easily.  Work flows because they don’t see themselves as working.

“We found out that they also wanted to add some strings to their sound,” Raymund “Sarkie” Sarangay, vocalist and guitarist of Silent Sanctuary revealed.  “And we only found that out when we sat down for the collab in Coke Studio. Somehow, nag volt in kami.”

Brian Sombero, vocalist of Brisom explains, “Friends na kami.  Even before this project, we already knew each other.  Of course, we would go to each other’s gigs and we knew each other’s music. We would hang out. But this time, we got to see another side of them.  They’re super fun, funny but also competitive! “

A love of an easygoing hangout did connect them, but they discovered that creativity can take many paths.  Brian reveals, "We have a very different way of songwriting.  For us, we start with the intro.  That’s how we build upon a song.  It’s make or break for us.  Without it, we can’t make a good song.  But for Sarkie, he likes to start with the chorus and the melody.  So we learned that it’s also good to try other ways of songwriting; it’s good to get out of your comfort zone.”

Both bands also saw the big picture; they all wanted to create a song that was positive, uplifting and as simple as Sarkie says, “masarap pang road trip.”

Kim Mirandilla-Ng, the violinist of Silent Sanctuary, says, “We want young people to know that even if it’s good to be aware of the trends; it’s also OK to go against the tide to find yourself.”

Brian sees it simply as honesty.  “It’s good that kids nowadays know about issues, about being woke.  But for us, with our music and lyrics, we’re just keeping it real."

Keeping it real still surprised both bands.

“We didn’t expect that it would get so emotional,” Brian admits.

“At first, you think it’s just about hanging out, and then you realize everything you’ve been through, and then it gets very emotional,” Jeffrey Castro, the drummer for Brisom, says.

Taste the sounds of Pinoy music as Silent Sanctuary and Brisom collaborate for Coke Studio Season3. Catch them on September 21, Saturday, at 10 a.m. on ABS-CBN or on https://www.youtube.com/CokeStudioPH.
